Oromandibular reconstruction with single free fibula osteocutaneous flap(FFOCF). Review of 700 cases at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai from 2005 to 2012.
Reconstruction of composite oromandibular segmental, hemi, extended hemi or middle one third defects, with inner lining as well as outer skin cover are managed with single FFOCF. Large skin paddle measuring 12X25 cms size can be raised with fibula and it is either rotated, divided, de-epithelised, supercharged or used as a second free flap based on a perforator to have aesthetic reconstruction.
With low donor site morbidity, long enough pedicle, reliable vessels for anastomosis and possibility of simultaneous time saving dissection, FFOCf has become flap of choice for oromandibular reconstruction irrespective of age or gender.
